Explore Stone Age and Bronze Age Wiltshire using a range of materials from the Wiltshire County Archaeology service, including the Historic Environment Record. Pupils will investigate the prehistory of the local area of your choice (within Wiltshire and Swindon) using the following sources:
- Local maps.
- Aerial photographs.
- Objects from excavations to handle.
- Information on local sites and finds.
- Photographs of local excavations and finds (subject to availability).
The workshop explores how and why archaeologists investigate an area, what they find and how this adds to our knowledge of life thousands of years in the past.
This workshop can be delivered at the History Centre or in school.
Visits to the History Centre
This workship is available at the History Centre on Mondays, either as a morning or afternoon session. The session will use some original materials and also includes a behind-the-scenes tour. Our public facilities include lockers, toilets, vending machines, area for eating lunch. There is full disabled access and a disabled toilet.
